On August 12 and 19th, 2011, Governor McDonnell’s Office announced the appointment of nine new members and three re-appointments to the Child Day-Care Council (links to the announcements below).
The Child Day-Care Council is comprised of twenty-eight members as designated in § 63.2-1735 of the Code of Virginia and “such representatives of state agencies as advisory members as the Governor deems necessary.” The purpose of the Child Day-Care Council is to adopt regulations for licensure and operation of child day centers in the Commonwealth.
This is a huge honor to represent our community on behalf of montessori education in Virginia. The Department of Social Services actually recommended Scott McClung based on the school’s reputation with the state. Once recommended, the council had to sift through them all to compile a list of actual nominees to present to the governor’s office. The governor reviewed and approved Scott’s appointment a couple of weeks ago and he will begin his duties in October and they will officially end in 2015. Please keep Scott in prayer as he begins a journey into politics on behalf of serving children.
Congratulations, Scott! This is awesome news!!
